Apparently, there is a new third-party candidate that has emerged in the already contentious election season. Folks around the greater downtown Bangor area have been reporting sightings of political signs featuring Maine’s favorite creepy clown, Pennywise from Stephen King’s “It.”
Stephen King stands by a “Vote Pennywise” sign near his house.

Bangor Daily News staff writer and editor Chris Burns took this picture of the Pennywise sign on Harlow Street near Bangor City Hall. When asked if he noticed any reactions by passers-by he said, “No, but I did a double take when I saw a sign on Broadway.”
While we don’t encourage anyone to write-in “Pennywise” on a legit ballot, we are all chuckling at the punchline. Someone in town has a great sense of humor and an eye for graphic design.
If you spot a Pennywise sign in town, snap a picture and leave us a note in the comments below.
