SelfStorage.com, a database of storage units all over the United States, finally gave us an answer to the age-old question: “What countries fit inside the state of Maine?”
Maine is the 39th largest state in the union, encompassing an area of just over 35,000 square miles. If Maine seceded from the United States, it would be the 110th largest country by land area
Some other stats for some context:
- Belgium, which could fit into Maine three times, has a population of 11.3 million, based on Worldometer’s estimates, nearly 8.5 times Maine’s population.
- At the average monthly rate of 50 cents per foot for ten foot by 20 foot storage units, Maine would cost around $17,500 per month.
- 87 countries could fit in Maine at least once.

At those monthly rates, I think we could take a few territories up in The County and cash in on them.
