Did you ever watch that terrible (and yet so awesome) movie, “Snakes on A Plane“? Mainers need to adopt the Samuel L. Jackson bad-to-the-bone attitude when it comes to snakes, because if you’re looking at the news this week, then you can see that chatter about snakes is seemingly everywhere.
Check out these eight times that snakes made it in the news and freaked out Mainers.
1) That time when folks in Westbrook had a Burmese python – or was it a boa constrictor – or a rat snake(?) on the loose and it totally freaked everyone out.
2) That time a Biddeford police officer had to call a game warden to wrangle a three-foot python.
3) That time a couple in Veazie found a three-foot snake in THEIR SHOWER. Do you have the creeps yet? Because I do now.
4) That time a woman in Fairfield found a python hanging out in her apartment like it was NBD.
5) That time a 71-year-old man fell into a snake-filled well. People, I cannot make this stuff up.
6) This intense story by a 90-year-old World War II veteran from Maine who told the story of that time his plane crashed into snake-filled waters. At one point, a sailor took out a .38 to shoot down a venomous sea snake.
7) That time residents in Rumford reported seeing a 17-foot “monster snake” in the Rumford Canal.
8) That time an 80-pound snake was seized from a Biddeford apartment. WHAT?!
And that, ladies and gentleman, is why we need Samuel L. Jackon to show us how to deal with snakes:
