Your mom could be dancing in this totally 80s video from a Bangor TV show

In the 1980s, if you were in Bangor and you wanted to go out dancing, the Bounty was the place to be. Considering there weren’t many other options at that time, it was also the only place to be. The Bounty — the nautical-themed nightclub located at the former Holiday Inn on Main Street, both of which closed in 2006 and were later demolished to make room for the construction of Hollywood Casino — was the site of countless girl’s nights, guy’s nights, date nights and wild nights.

In its heyday in the 1980s, the Bounty became a destination for folks from all over eastern Maine to come for a fun night out — it was packed nearly every weekend. By 1985, its popularity was such that local radio DJ Mighty John Marshall hosted an “American Bandstand”-style TV show called “Bounty Bandstand” (of course) on WVII, channel 7, featuring large amounts of local teenagers dancing to the Top 40 hits of the day.

Much to the delight of every now-adult featured in this spectacularly 80s video, a full episode of “Bounty Bandstand” has surfaced on YouTube. It features, among others, some students from Orono High School, as well as feathered bangs, acid wash jeans, off-shoulder sweaters and some seriously awkward teenage dancing. As a little time capsule of Bangor in the 80s, well, it doesn’t get any better than this.

Do you see yourself in this video? Someone you know? Your mom or dad? Aunt or uncle? Post in the comments and let us know, and make sure you share this blog post on that person’s Facebook wall, as we’re certain they’ll want everyone to see a video of them as a teenager in the 80s.
