This totally unscientific analysis breaks down just how little Maine has in common with Donald Trump

Mainers aren’t known for bragging. There aren’t a ton of billionaires here. Compared with many other states, we don’t have a whole lot of places to get a spray tan.

Those are a few of the reasons why a recent analysis found that Maine is one of the states that least aligns with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Most serious analyses take into account things like party affiliation or political leanings. This incredibly subjective, but nonetheless entertaining, breakdown just focuses on Trump’s biography, style and personality.

Estately, a real estate search website, says that Maine ranks 46th out of the 50 states in an analysis that includes the following factors, according to the site:

  1. Percentage of residents married three times or more (source: 2012 U.S. Census)
  2. Businesses offering spray tans per capita (source: YellowPages.com)
  3. Percentage of people who brag on social media (source: HeyLets.com)
  4. Billionaires per capita (source: Forbes)
  5. Total amount of campaign contributions to Donald Trump per capita (source: Federal Election Commission)
  6. Bankruptcies per capita for 2009-2014 (source: American Bankruptcy Institute)
  7. Percentage of Facebook users expressing interest in “Donald Trump for President (source: Facebook)

The states that most line up with the Donald tend to include western states like Nevada, and southeastern states like Florida and Tennessee. Here’s how those data look in a map:

The state that ranked 10th was New Hampshire, where politics and data site FiveThirtyEight predicts Trump will win handily in today’s primary.
