Irreverent stereotype maps place Maine in America’s ‘Smarty Pants’ and ‘Microwaves’ regions

We’re all familiar with America’s geographic regions — Maine’s in New England, or more broadly, the Northeast, for instance — but what if the country were to be broken up along certain cultural lines?

That’s what Yanko Tsvetkov, a self described “leading international bigotry professional with a taste for unconventional historical studies,” did in his book “Atlas of Prejudice: The Complete Stereotype Map Collection.”

The Washington Post described Tsvetkov’s maps as “fun,” but also made up of “oversimplified, stereotyped regions.”

What do you think? Does Maine belong with states lumped together for their shared love of burgers or overuse of microwaves, for instance?
