Does Maine or Massachusetts make a better lobster roll?

I know, how dare we even ask.

USA Today threw down the gauntlet recently when it questioned which state does the lobster roll best.

“The overwhelming majority of American lobsters are caught in the cold waters off the coasts of Maine and Massachusetts. The two states are the undisputed homes of the lobster roll, but who does it best?” wrote Eric Grossman.

USA Today then provided a photo list of eateries in both states that make lobster rolls. Red’s Eats in Wiscasset is there, of course, along with DiMillo’s in Portland and a couple dozen other seafood spots.

So which state wins?

Nearly every person who commented on the piece liked Maine lobster rolls best — and who ever dares to argue with them?
