Maine has more of these per capita than any other state, real estate site finds

The real estate blog Estately has mapped out one thing that each state has more of per capita than any other state, and the results for a lot of states — including Maine — are a little disappointing.

But at least we’re not Alabama, home of America’s most racist Tweets per capita, or North Carolina, the country’s snake bite capital.

Estately gave Maine credit for having the most boating accidents per capita of any state in America with one waterway crash for every 25,000 people or so, as well as the highest concentration of timberland.

The good news? Florida has a higher rate of fatal boat accidents, so at least ours aren’t the country’s most serious.

New Hampshire tops the nation in student loan debt per person and testicular cancer cases per capita, but has the most amusement parks per resident, so folks have plenty of opportunities to get away from it all.

Delaware has the most sex offenders per capita, Arkansas has the most hate groups and Kansas has the most pornography page views.

Iowa’s “dark secret” — using Estately’s term — is its high rate of lost chickens. Twenty-seven million of the poultry disappear every year.

A few of the more positive ones include Georgia’s high number of panda bears per capita and Alaska’s country-leading numbers of veterans and bald eagles.

(Although Alaska also boasts America’s most violent crime, rape and gun violence per person as well, so it’s not all just about patriotism up there.)

If you’re a waiter or waitress, you probably want to work in Illinois, where people tip on a nation-best 61 percent of their transactions. However, Illinois also tops the country in percentage of people who wished they lived somewhere else — 50 percent — so maybe the big tips aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.

In Texas there are more tigers than exist in the wild, and certainly more pet tigers per capita than any other place in America.
