Bang-or, not Bang-er: NBC Nightly News ends Monday broadcast with “We Are Bangor” segment

On the Monday night broadcast of NBC’s “Nightly News” the program featured a segment correcting the world on the pronunciation of Bangor — that’s -GOR, not -GER. The segment featured correspondent Harry Smith interviewing several notable Bangorians, taking in some notable sites including the Paul Bunyan statue, the downtown Bangor mural and other parts of downtown, and, of course, Dysart’s Restaurant. Bangor attracted the interest of the national broadcast after marketing company Sutherland & Weston’s “We Are Bangor” video became a viral hit last month.
