Cold politics: Bush, Collins, King, Pingree, Michaud and more take on #IceBucketChallenge

We’ve already shown you Stephen King taking on the Ice Bucket Challenge and Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry getting soaked after the band’s Bangor show this week. Now we’re going to take a look at the many politicians with Maine ties who have accepted the challenge to promote ALS awareness.

Former President George W. Bush was coy about getting drenched in this video shot at the Bush family’s Kennebunkport retreat.

Sen. Susan Collins offered some free promotion for the Caribou Public Library while she took the challenge.

Sen. Angus King enjoyed his ice bath in front of the Paul Bunyan statue in downtown Bangor before challenging fellow freshmen Sens. Ted Cruz, Jeff Flake and Tim Kaine.

Gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud joined members of the United Steelworkers District 4 for his drenching.

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree startled the cows on Turner Farmer as she took the challenge.

U.S. Senate candidate and state Sen. Emily Cain challenged her staff after dumping the bucket on her own head.

U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Poliquin took his ice bucket during the World Acadian Congress in Madawaska.
